This recruitment may be used to fill future full time benefited positions vacancies when they become available at the Utah State Hospital.
Example of Duties Provide building and grounds security; secure buildings, and protect against theft, vandalism, inappropriate entry, fire hazards, acts of violence, etc.
Control access to the hospital campus; check identification, vehicles, packages, etc.
Periodically inspect buildings, grounds, fences, gates and all other possible means of entrance and exit.
Enforce laws, rules, and regulations.
Coordinate and monitor activities of law enforcement and other community services Conduct/coordinate investigative efforts by law enforcement into allegations of a variety of inappropriate activities, rules infractions or illegal actions.
Drive a car to monitor campus and quick response to needs on units.
Teach Safety Intervention Techniques (SIT) classes to employees.
Assess situations and apply appropriate interventions to prevent or resolve crisis situations.
Insure the safety of arriving patients; follow protocols in handling patients as they change location.
Supplemental Information Must be POST Certified with the State of Utah as a Special Functions Officer (or higher) and maintain certification thereafter.

working at great heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, being subject to possible physical attack, etc.
The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
